Open or closed triangle: how to install your inclined supports

At Sunfer we offer two different types of triangles for the installation of photovoltaic modules on inclined supports: open triangle and closed triangle.

Both modules are designed to provide the necessary inclination for the solar panels, but are distinguished by the anchoring methods recommended for their use.

Each type has specific applications that maximise their efficiency and stability on different anchoring surfaces.

Below, we will detail the specifics and recommended uses for each type of triangle.

Open triangles

Open triangles can be used for:

  • Direct anchoring to concret slabs.
  • Counterweights, provided that the counterweights are large enough to connect the front attachment of the triangle to the rear attachment.
  • Substructure, provided that the substructure has sufficient rigidity and joins the front leg to the rear leg. Only valid for substructures parellel to the triangle.

Closed triangle

The closed triangles, in addition to being able to be used in all systems where the open triangle can be installed, can be installed in:

  • Independent counterweights for the rear leg and the front leg.
  • Substructures perpendicular to the direction of the triangle.

Sunfer’s open and closed triangles provide versatile and efficient solutions for the installation of your inclined supports, adapting to different structural needs.

The choice between an open or closed triangle will depend on the specifications of the project and the type of anchoring required.

If you do not know what type of triangle or support you need, please contact our technical service.
